ok, i'm joking

it's me on sunday! 

now don't go all judg-y on me with that big black sweater that you see here, it's like day 1 and all...but, i do however have on my most favorite-est red plaid Abercrombie shirt (gift), a big chunky silver and pearl bracelet (acquired as well), jeans (old/Gap), and boots (old/Ross)

not quite sure which is going to be the most difficult...taking the pictures or wearing the clothes??

{Christmas} Home Tour

Christmas Home Tour 2011

 

here we go...

first up is my very favorite tree of all time!  my "black and white check" tree that sits in the dining room...i found this silk ribbon at the Atlanta Apparel Mart several years ago and have loved it ever since

our "main" tree is in the living room and for some reason i don't have a pic from this season...but it's covered with red's and silver's and of course, plaid!

sitting on our factory cart is a grouping of large vintage-y silver ornaments, which i love!   i want to add some burlap underneath, maybe? 

i seem to have a 'thing' for big silver ornaments...here is the dining room table! 

and lastly, this sits behind our sofa...an antique rusty-red metal tool box with lots of green-ery!

i have much, much more (an insane amount of Christmas decor, really) but i definitely kept it simple this go around

{Christmas} setting the table

i love dishes!  i mean, like really LOVE dishes...i have way too many, if there is such a thing and i love them each and every one of them

setting the table at Christmas-time is a pretty big deal at our house, well...atleast for me it is

here are some photos from our old home, i'm still working on our table for this year!

my favorite part of setting a table any time of the year is mixing everything up!  here i used my galvanized metal charges and topped them with a black and cream swirl plate from Hobby Lobby and then my ALL TIME Favorite black and cream check plate from Marshalls and TJMaxx!  i then placed a folded tartan plaid cloth napkin for added color...and some plaid!

the actual tablescape is made of the same tartan plaid napkins laid diagonally down the middle of the table with greenery loaded up with pinecones and berries.  in the center is a very large hurricane globe filled with a few of my favorite Christmas decorations from Potterybarn...big mercury glass ornaments!  i also placed a brown metal reindeer on each side of the hurricane globe for a little something extra!  you can see them in the photo below

fourth grade, day one

6:30 came very early this morning...

 

but i must say that he was ready before our actual time to head out the door!!  there was none of the "hurry, come on let's go" stuff going on

only a few butterflies on the way...

he had an "AWESOME DAY" and told me all about it on the way home!

good intentions

before Christmas two years ago,  i came across this post 

of course, i almost fell out...i can so do this, i've just GOT TO DO IT...marked it, posted about it on my blog and even purchased red plaid fabric

of course, with good intentions

before Christmas last year, i came across said fabric

oh yes i did! 

so during a case of horrible cooties and sickness which plagued our family before the holidays at the same time a thousand other things needed to be done...and while laying on the couch with what i know was the flu

i made the most wonderful red plaid shirt fabric ornaments

 

they were super easy....styrofoam balls, strips of fabric, pins and wrap away! 

i couldn't stop.  i made a ton of them.  my mom made them and then my friend, judy and i made more on new year's day, don't ask

we made them until we ran out of fabric, but the nice lady at hobby lobby reassured me that it's normal stock...a good thing or i would have been on a mission, like a crazy woman to all of the surrounding hobby lobbys in the area for the stuff!

 

they were not put away with the usual holiday decor, i just couldn't bare the thought...however, i can't wait to make more and plan to do so throughout the year or atleast before december 2011.

maybe i'll do a tutorial?

 

funny thing is that not long after i saw this post on eddie ross's blog, i saw HIM at the scott antique market, he was super nice and seemed like lots of fun...and he told me to send him a photo when i was done!

in a weird sort of way, i was SO GLAD TO GET BACK TO SCHOOL and WORK TODAY!

phew

i've never known this county to be out of school, due to snow, for more than a day or two...not an entire week!  and as the week wore on, all i could think of was just how many days are we going to have to make up??

four...and it's only january

my alarm went off this morning and i was ready...ready for normal, ready for make-up and ready for coffee

 

and it was pajama day...nice

what's one more day of pajamas?

 

 

i knew i should have been in the 2010 Olympics

      

skiing or snowboarding, of course!

this is my new morning caffeine fix...other than the occasional Red Bull, no judgin' here

so good!

and A TON LESS in calories even compared to a "skinny" something at 5bucks 

try it with some honey and maybe a little cream, it will still be on the light side!  ahem...and not to forget a wonderful plaid mug DOES MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE!
